Shelf Social — Community Guidelines
Last Updated: April 14, 2026
Shelf Social is a community of collectors who share a passion for curating, organizing, and displaying personal collections. These Guidelines exist to ensure our community remains welcoming, respectful, and legally compliant.
By using Shelf Social, you agree to follow these Guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, feature restrictions, account suspension, or permanent account termination, in accordance with our Terms of Service.
Respect the community
Be kind and constructive. Treat other members the way you would want to be treated. Disagreements are fine; personal attacks are not.
No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or stalking. This includes unwanted messages, doxxing (sharing another person’s personal information without consent), and coordinated harassment campaigns.
No hate speech. Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic is prohibited.
No sexually explicit content. This platform is not the place for it.
No impersonation. Do not pretend to be someone you are not, including other users, brands, public figures, or Shelf Social staff.
Respect intellectual property
Do not post content that infringes another party’s copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. This includes uploading photographs you do not have the right to use.
Do not use the platform to sell, distribute, or facilitate the distribution of goods bearing counterfeit trademarks. Under U.S. federal law (15 U.S.C. § 1127, 18 U.S.C. § 2320), goods bearing marks that are identical to or substantially indistinguishable from a registered trademark are considered counterfeit, regardless of the terminology used to describe them.
If you are a rights holder and believe your intellectual property has been infringed on the Platform, please submit a complaint through our IP reporting page.
Be honest
Do not misrepresent the authenticity, origin, condition, provenance, or value of any item. If you display an item, be truthful about what it is.
Do not post misleading or deceptive content. Do not manipulate photographs in ways that misrepresent the nature or condition of items.
Do not create fake accounts, use bots, or engage in inauthentic behavior designed to inflate engagement or mislead other users.
Use the platform as intended
Shelf Social is a social collection platform, not a marketplace. Do not use the Platform as a primary channel for commercial sales operations. Individual users may share that items in their collection are available; operating a storefront or commercial resale operation on the Platform is not permitted.
Do not spam. This includes unsolicited promotional messages, repetitive posts, and mass messaging.
Do not post content that is illegal or promotes illegal activity under applicable law.
Do not attempt to circumvent any security, access control, or rate-limiting features of the Platform.
Reporting and enforcement
If you see content that violates these Guidelines, please report it using the reporting feature on the Platform. We review all reports and take action as appropriate.
Our enforcement is graduated. Most first violations result in a warning and content removal. Repeated violations result in escalating consequences, up to permanent account termination. Severe violations, such as large-scale intellectual property infringement or illegal activity, may result in immediate permanent termination without prior warning.
We cooperate with law enforcement when required by applicable law.
A note on these Guidelines
These Guidelines are not exhaustive. Shelf Social reserves the right to remove any content and take any action we deem appropriate to maintain the safety and integrity of the community, even if the specific conduct is not explicitly addressed in these Guidelines.
We may update these Guidelines from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform.
